What is hypnosis?
Some people are under the mistaken notion that hypnosis is a stage of sleep. It is not a stage of sleep, rather it is a state greater awareness. Using hypnosis, one can basically "reprogram their mind" into changing the way they act or feel.
Is hypnosis real?
Hypnosis is recognized by scientists and the scientific community as a real phenomena. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy has been rooted in science with evidence based results reported for many years. In 1958 the AMA recognized that hypnotherapy is a useful technique in the treatment of certain illnesses.
Can everybody be hypnotized?
Everyone with a normal IQ can be hypnotized. In fact, It may surprise you to find out you have already been hypnotized. Have you ever daydreamed? Have you ever started driving someplace and got to your destination without recalling how you got there? You mind was working on another level and that is what hypnosis is. However, A hypnotherapist acts as your guide to help you block out the cares and worries of the day to day life, and helps you focus on an aspect that you want to change.
What happens during a hypnotherapy session?
We begin by discussing your goals and what aspect of your life you want to change. I then suggest the type of path I think we should take. depending on the problem, you may need one or session or several. Many conditions can be treated in one session. I also will explain how hypnotherapy works and answer any questions you may have.
How does hypnotherapy work?
During a session you will feel very relaxed, perhaps the most relaxed you have felt in a long time, both mentally and physically. This makes your mind open to positive thoughts so you can once again take control of your life.
Will I fall asleep and lose control?
No, hypnosis is not sleep. It is another level of thinking. You are in control of and aware of what is going on. A hypnotherapist can NOT make you do anything against your will.
